Remember?

Today’s question is:  Why are some things so hard to remember??

Background:  I find it so odd that I can remember some things and not others.  As I’ve mentioned before I’m a birthday savant.  Seriously, I remember all these birthdays of people I haven’t seen in 20 years.  The birthdays just don’t want to leave my brain.
I remember other things too.  Weird things.  Like what you may have said to me verbatim 7 years ago about your friend.  I find you looking at me weird when I bring up the odd fact I remember about your life, that seriously, you don’t even remember.
My mother in law passed away in the beginning of April.  When she died pw and his brother were trying to figure out where they were going to bury her.  When pw told me I said, “well, why wouldn’t you just bury her with your dad and sister since you bought 3 plots when your dad died?”  His response was “we did?”.   Why would I remember this when his brother and he couldn’t?  Isn’t that strange.  And it’s a vivid memory for me, vivid.
Memories are strange things aren’t they?
Now if I could only remember what I walked into the kitchen for, I’d have it made.

  1. If I had a dollar for every time I walked into a room and forgot what I went in there for, I swear I’d be a millionaire! I’m not even kidding. :)

  2. I now can say to you “welcome to the hereafter.”
It’s that part of your life when you will walk into a room and say, “What am I here after?”
Trust me, get used to it!

  4. Having a good long-term memory must make life easy for you. Since I recently became half-dead, I remember very little. However, memory is just a state of mind, when you challenge yourself it’ll surprise you. Have you tried any of those brain games? I recently read that surfing the internet improves your brain power. I’d like to try the posit science tools to see if they work:

If you watch their videos of the tool, you have to wonder if it’s some kind of expensive joke…

  5. Great memory. I have a HORRIBLE memory! I took 3 of my 4 boys for ‘well checks’ last week. when the Dr. got to the 10yo he asked,
‘what can i do for you?’ 10 yo replied,” can you help my mom?” (i was afraid of what was going to come next), “she has a HORRIBLE memory!” LOL

btw, are you going to start blogging again? i enjoyed reading your questions!

  6. the question of whether or not I”m going to blog again comes up frequently among the people I know. I’ve struggled with it. Honestly, I really love it and miss it, I don’t know exactly why I’ve been amiss. Perhaps my new years resolution should be spend 15 minutes a day doing something I love……..what do you think? I’m sure I can do it.

  7. sounds doable! we often put everyone else before ourselves, and it’s not fair to us. we SHOULD be able to take at LEAST 15 minutes a day for ourselves.
